FIRESIDE POEMS:

WITHOUT YOU

I once heard a song so lovely it touched my soul and set my heart free,

Every melody beautiful, every note flawless, and the chorus in perfect key.

Until my heart sank like a ship in a tempest on a raging sea,

As every note fell silent when I stood there without you next to me.

I would sing along, but the notes feel empty without you,

My heart broken to pieces remembering all that we’ve been through.

I’ve never forgotten one moment that we shared alone just us two,

And the song in my heart told me there could never be a love more true.

Every beat, every song, every dance, you can take them all away.

I’d give them all up if only by my side you would forever stay.

I feel broken inside for my heart knows no other way,

Knowing in a heartbeat I’d give up a hundred years if only to hold you for a day.

Without you my heart feels parched like a vagabond wandering in a drought,

Feeling lost, hopeless, and homesick as I roam aimlessly about.

And after traveling for so long, my heart no longer has any doubt:

I’d rather hear one melody with you than a thousand songs without.
