FIRESIDE POEMS:

TO BREAK HER HEART

It’s a familiar path which down now I trod.

Never claimed to be perfect, for all my strengths I was flawed.

A sinner I am so Life never spared me the rod.

To be tested for my love is my penance to God.

I came to your rescue and loved you with all of my might.

You prayed for my heart and my safekeeping every single night.

You were my peace and my refuge; you were my delight.

I was your strength and your rock; I was your noble knight.

But I still see tears in your eyes long after goodbye,

And time can never erase the memories of hearing you cry.

Still I carry your love in my heart until the day that I die.

Some things you never forget no matter how hard you try.

Every moment I proved myself a hero among all other men

And fought with all of my might to the very bitter end.

I know our hearts shall mend certainly but not certain when,

Knowing nothing would break my heart like having to break yours again.
